Community : The Bread & Roses Project

About The Bread & Roses

The Bread & Roses Barge CIC is a social enterprise that oversees the management of the Thames Sailing Barge May. Founded by three women with significant expertise in both sailing barges and the hospitality industry, this initiative is driven by a commitment to establish a contemporary and socially-responsible future for SB May. With a clear focus on community engagement, The Bread & Roses strive to provide a supportive and inclusive environment for women from diverse backgrounds through the art of baking.

The video below is an interview with ITV News and some of the volunteers and explains further about The Bread & Roses.

How is The Print Bug involved in this project?

I came across a social media post requesting donations of cushions for the Sailing Barge May. I had some sample cushions that I thought would be put to good use.

After being welcomed aboard by Jane, one of the directors of this project, we discussed how I could contribute with my design skills.

We are currently collaborating on producing a range of merchandise to help raise funds for the renovation of May. I am also a volunteer helping out with afternoon teas on board!

Keep an eye on this page and our social media or sign up to our newsletter for updates on this exciting lifelong project.
